Exapion weevils

There are four British Exapion species:

  • only ulicis is densely covered in wide greyish hairs and has the plain grey look. It is common everywhere on gorse.
  • Exapion fuscirostre is dark with a pale stripe on each shoulder, and is frequent on broom.
  • The other two are rare:
  • genistae has a wide stripe down the whole length of each wing-case;
  • difficile is sparsely hairy and looks all dark but has red-brown legs (including femurs).
